Our Vision
Welcoming, witnessing, serving in the heart of the city.
Mission Statement
To know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and to make him known, proclaiming the gospel, through
the building of strong, hospitable, multi-cultural and Indonesian congregations in the inner city offering purposeful, creative and diverse expressions of worship;
the creative fostering of our historical, biblical and reformed heritage as a ‘First Presbyterian’ church; and
nurturing and teaching people in the Christian faith, promoting a climate of loving service and caring for society and creation.
Values
We will work cross-culturally to build a community of mixed cultures and generations united by Faith.
We will commit ourselves to growing spiritually through meaningful, joyful participatory relevant services of worship, and through prayer and Bible study.
We will welcome in Christ’s love all who approach our doors, particularly those in need, and will seek opportunities for extending hospitality.
We will support each other in living the Christian life and will foster the welfare of our parish: the elderly, the young, the families and individuals in need of help.
We will value the contribution and talents of every person, creating opportunities for them to be involved in the mission of the parish and will actively foster the involvement of children, young people and families.
We will value the historic foundations of St Andrew’s whilst building a living Church that is relevant to our times and committing ourselves to be part of God’s mission in the world.
We will demonstrate in our relationships with others Christian qualities such as love, compassion, generosity, sensitivity and respect.
We will welcome new challenges and have a positive attitude to changing old practices and implementing new initiatives when it is necessary.
We will consult widely, assess needs and priorities, and consider the matter prayerfully before making a major decision.
We value our links with the Universities.
Our Beliefs
BIBLE
The Bible is our Supreme Standard and as per our homepage, we consider the Open Bible fundamental to our Christian Worship, symbolizing the Inspired Word of God open for our daily instruction.
THE 5 “SOLAS” OF PROTESTANT REFORM
Sola Scriptura: Bible is the sole written divine revelation and alone can bind the conscience of believers absolutely.
Sola Fide: Justification is by faith alone. The merit of Christ imputed to us by faith is the sole ground of our acceptance by God, by which our sins are remitted.
Solus Christus: Christ is the only mediator through whose work we are redeemed.
Sola Gratia: Our salvation rests solely on the work of God's grace for us and in us.
Soli Deo Gloria: To God alone belongs the glory.
APOSTLE’S CREED
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
